Upbeat mood at major wind energy event
19th July 2017
The buoyant mood of the offshore wind energy sector was very evident at the recent OWE event in London.
SCORE and OrbisEnergy had a joint stand in the ExCel complex visited by 10,000 people from across the industry and around the world.
We were very pleased with the results of our trip, which provided leads with 20 companies around England who are looking to expand their renewable energy expertise or relocate to the East. And we are confident of getting some strong applications for SCORE grants too.
The exhibition and conference was very impressive – not just in its scale, but because of the upbeat atmosphere and presentations about the new generation of turbines plus the latest kit including support vessels.
A massive contingent from the up and coming Far East and Asia showed the global nature of the market – and there is no reason why companies in the East of
England renewables cannot be a part of that growth.
Nearer to home, OWE coincided with a new study showing that the UK has the capability of providing 25 gigawatts by the end of the next decade – enough to power 20 million homes, which is about three quarters of the nation’s households.
Exciting times – at home and around the world.
